GIS Coalition

The Sarpy County Geographic Information System (GIS) is a regional geographic information resource that provides for the business needs of Sarpy County Government, Sarpy County GIS Coalition, and the general public. The Sarpy County GIS Coalition consists of:

  • Sarpy County
  • City of Bellevue
  • City of Gretna
  • City of LaVista
  • City of Papillion
  • City of Springfield
  • The Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District

In 2002 the Coalition combined to fund a comprehensive County GIS program that become functional in 2004. All Coalition members will have access to data and GIS products. Sarpy County maintains base portions of their own data and exchanges updated information as changes occur. This helps maintain system cost efficiencies and eliminate duplication of data and effort.

The Sarpy County Coalition serves as a model GIS-based interlocal cooperative for the State of Nebraska. Sarpy County is the primary database repository and administrative site for County-wide GIS data. The GIS Department maintains and updates digital data layers such as parcels, zoning, political boundaries, and street centerlines. Sarpy County GIS also provides:

  • Applications development
  • Custom cartography
  • Custom GIS-based map development
  • Data development
  • GIS training
  • Technical support

Digital and hard copy map requests by County staff, Coalition members, and the general public are provided for as well.
