Traffic Enforcement in Sarpy CountyRadar Trailer

The Special Services Unit of the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office leads the mission in traffic enforcement.  Deputies employ different techniques of enforcing the rules of the road, educate the public, and provide visual deterrents for bad driving behavior.   The goal of the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office is to make traveling on our roadways as safe as possible in a rapidly growing county.

Radar Trailers & Signs

The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office utilizes portable displays on a trailer and pole-mounted options that use radar to display a vehicle's speed to the driver.  These devices will also collect traffic survey data to aid in determining the best time to address high violation times.  

Sarpy County Traffic Task Force

The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office is the founding agency of the Sarpy County Traffic Task Force. As a response to a record-setting number of traffic crash fatalitTraffic Task Force Logo 2020ies in 2019, the law enforcement agencies of Sarpy County formed the "Sarpy County Traffic Task Force". The Task Force utilizes resources from the Sheriff's Office, Bellevue Police Department, La Vista Police Department, and Papillion Police Department to employ different techniques of enhanced traffic law enforcement. The goal is to reduce the number of traffic crashes and fatalities on all Sarpy County roadways.

The Sarpy County Traffic Task Force has received over $150,000 in grant funding from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office to offset overtime costs and allow for additional patrols on Sarpy County streets.

Request Extra Enforcement

If you have an area you feel has a high number of traffic law violations, complete the Contact Us Form to request extra patrol.  You can also request radar trailers/signs for the desired area.  Requests for trailers/signs are honored when these devices become available.
