Sarpy County to dedicate street in honor of Corporal Daegan Page

Daegan Page

The Sarpy County Board of Commissioners today unanimously voted to dedicate a street in honor of fallen Marine Corporal Daegan Page.

“We owe our deepest respects to those who serve our country, and Cpl. Page paid the ultimate price,” said County Board Chairman Don Kelly. “Because of his sacrifice, and his family’s ties to Sarpy County, we wanted to honor Cpl. Page and his family in a permanent way to help preserve his memory.”

A portion of Gertrude Street from 157th and Emiline Streets to South 162nd Avenue and Harrison Streets will carry a “Cpl. Daegan Page Street” honorary designation.

In addition to Cpl. Page’s family ties to Sarpy County, his final resting place is at the Omaha National Cemetery in Sarpy County. Page was among 13 U.S. service members killed in an August 2021 attack in Afghanistan.

Page was born in Omaha and graduated from Millard South High school. He was an avid hockey player and was a member of the state championship Westside Warrior team.

He joined the Marines in 2017 and attended boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego in 2018. During his service, he deployed several times, serving in Japan, South Korea, Australia, Jordan and Afghanistan.

Page is survived by his parents, Wendy and Craig Adelson and Greg and Jenni Page; siblings Corey Adelson, Garrett Ross, Mason Page and Emerson Page; grandparents Joyce Page, Keith and Peggy Tye, and Don and Kristine Thompson; and girlfriend Jessica Ellison.

The Board of Commissioners formally approved a resolution to designate the road in Cpl. Page’s honor at today's board’s meeting.

The street sign unveiling will take place later this spring.
