Sarpy County Mails Ballots for 2023 Papillion La Vista Community Schools Special Election

PLCS DISTRICT SCHOOL BOND ELECTION:  HOW TO VOTE

The Papillion La Vista Community School District will hold a school bond election on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.  The election will be conducted by mail; therefore, no polling places will be open for voting. 

Approximately 41,500 ballots have been mailed to voters within the Papillion La Vista Community School District registered at their current address. Ballots are mailed in Kraft-colored envelopes measuring approximately 6 inches by 9 inches; a return envelope is included with the ballot.  Voters must sign the back of their return envelope in order for the ballot to be counted.

Ballots must be delivered or mailed to the Sarpy County Election Commission at 1102 E 1st St., Suite #1, Papillion, Nebraska 68046 or placed in a Sarpy County Election Commission official ballot drop box no later than Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 5 p.m.  If returning the voted ballot by mail, the US Postal Service recommends mailing ballots no later than May 2, 2023 to ensure adequate processing time. Drop boxes are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; no postage is needed on ballots placed in a drop box.

Drop box locations available for this election: 

  • 1102 E 1 St., Papillion (northwest corner of the Sarpy County 1102 building parking lot)
  • 1102 E 1 St., Papillion (west doors of the Sarpy County 1102 building)
  • 1248 Golden Gate Drive, Papillion (Sarpy County Courthouse Campus parking lot)
  • 7701 S. 96th St., La Vista (La Vista Police Department parking lot)

Voters who have returned their ballots may check the status (accepted or rejected) online at www.votercheck.necvr.ne.gov.  On the home page, enter the voter’s first name, last name, and county to match the voter registration.  If the ballot status is rejected, the voter must contact the Election Commission.  Replacement ballots may be issued at the Sarpy County Election Commission until Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 5 p.m.
