The U.S. Army and Sarpy County celebrated their new recruiting agreement through the Partnership for Your Success (PaYS) program during a signing ceremony Tuesday at the Sarpy County Courthouse.
The PaYS Program is a strategic partnership between the Army and a cross section of private industry, academia and state and local public institutes. The program is designed to help Soldiers prepare for a career after the Army by connecting them with employers who understand the skills, discipline and work ethic that military service members bring to a business. It guarantees soldiers five job interviews and possible employment with Sarpy County after their service in the Army.
The partnership is an extension of Sarpy County’s strong support for veterans. More than 20,000 veterans live in Sarpy County, making the county home to Nebraska’s second largest veteran population.
“Veterans are highly skilled, motivated and have an unmatched work ethic. We’re honored to be part of the U.S. Army PaYS program and lucky to have access to such a talented group,” said Sarpy County Commissioner and Board Chair Angi Burmeister.
Since PaYS began in 2000, more than 1,200 employers have partnered with the program.
“The men and women in the regular Army, the Reserve and the National Guard are patriotic, loyal and dedicated individuals that continually answer the ever-increasing role in the defense of our nation, our partners and our communities. These experiences gain them perspective as well as arm them in a variety of skills and leadership experiences, which is a force-multiplier to any organization,” said MAJ (P) Dustin Young, 2-134th in BN Commander, Nebraska Army National Guard.
